Our Story
Lean Kitchen’s journey to fresh, healthy meal prep across the nation
2015
Lean Kitchen was founded by friends Austin Evans and JR in St. Joseph, Missouri.
In 2015, Austin Evans met JR at a local gym, bonding over a shared passion for health and wellness. While running his supplement store, Austin’s focus was on truly helping people—educating customers and recommending only what they needed. Seeing diet as the biggest hurdle, he knew meal prep could be better: delicious, homemade-style meals with quality ingredients at a fair price.
By December 2016, Lean Kitchen launched its first location in St. Joseph, MO, starting in the back of Austin’s store.
In 2018, they opened the first Lean Kitchen franchise in Guntersville, AL, sparking rapid expansion. Lean Kitchen soon became one of the fastest-growing meal prep franchises, serving communities across the country.
Today, with more locations opening and a mission as strong as ever, Lean Kitchen is on a journey to bring fresh, healthy, and convenient meals to everyone, making healthy eating accessible and impactful.

As a meal prep franchise company, we will provide guidance throughout the entire buildout and planning process, the development of your first location, and in the on-going operation thereafter, to make the process as seamless as possible.
